Paramedic Student
Currently enrolled or a recently graduate of an approved college paramedic program awaiting provincial certification. The Paramedic Student works in a support role along side other Paramedic staff.
Primary Care Paramedic
Graduate of an approved college paramedic program and hold the Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant certification from Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The function of Primary Care Paramedic is to provide emergency patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), patient immobilization and extrication, oxygen therapy, basic trauma life support, blood glucose testing, and non-emergency patient care.
Enhanced - Primary Care Paramedic
The education and qualifications of the Primary Care Paramedic is enhanced by an additional training program. This program includes learner-lead study, classroom and clinical placement.
The function of Enhanced-Primary Care Paramedic is to provide emergency patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), patient immobilization and extrication, oxygen therapy, basic trauma life support, blood glucose testing, and non-emergency patient care.
The Primary Care Paramedic is certified by a physician to:
-Operate a Semi-Automated External Defibrillator
-Provide Blood Glucometry
-Administer drugs, including:
Epinephrine
Salbutimol
Glucagon
ASA
Nitroglycerin
The Enhanced-Primary Care Paramedic is certified by a physician to:
-Operate a Semi-Automated External Defibrillator
-Provide Blood Glucometry
-Advanced Airway Management
-Intravenous Fluid Therapy
-Administer drugs including:
Epinephrine Salbutimol
Glucagon ASA
Nitroglycerin Dextrose 50W
Morphine Naloxone
Lorazepam Dimenhydrinate
Advanced Care Paramedic
The education and qualifications of the Enhanced-Primary Care Paramedic is built on by an additional training program. This program includes classroom, clinical placement, and preceptorship.
The function of Advanced Care Paramedic is to provide emergency patient care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), patient immobilization and extrication, oxygen therapy, advanced trauma life support, blood glucose testing, and non-emergency patient care.
The Advanced Care Paramedic is certified by a physician to:
-Operate a Manual External Defibrillator
-Provide Blood Glucometry
-Advanced Airway Management
-Intravenous Fluid Therapy
-Administer drugs, including:
Epinephrine Salbutimol
Glucagon ASA
Nitroglycerin Dextrose 50W
Morphine Naloxone
Adenosine Sodium Bicarbonate
Dopamine Amiodarone
Diazepam Furosemide
Lidocane Atropine
Paramedic Supervisor
The Paramedic Supervisor is responsible for many tasks including the oversight of day-to-day operations at an event location. The Supervisor is an experience Paramedic with excellent knowledge of company policy & Procedures, and Ministry of Health patient care standards.
Director of Paramedic Services
The Director of Paramedic Services is responsible for the over-all administration and operations of First Response Ontario.
